Celebrating in the city

King’s Night and flea market

Besides the royal family’s visit, Lelystad celebrates King’s Day as it does every year, with King’s Night, a flea market and the King’s Funfair. Here is how it went in recent years.

What is known for 2027?

Nothing yet. With the royal visit, 2027 will not be an ordinary King’s Day: locations, times and closures may differ from other years. The municipality usually publishes the rules in April. As soon as they are out, you will find them here.

How it went in recent years

  • Organisers: the Oranje Comité Lelystad, together with Lelystad’s events coordination team.
  • Flea market: in the city centre (Stadshart) and at the Lelycentre. It starts at 14:00 on the afternoon before King’s Day and runs until 17:00 on King’s Day. In 2025 it ran from Friday 25 April 14:00 to Saturday 26 April 17:00.
  • King’s Night: bars and restaurants in the city centre host DJs and live music on the evening before King’s Day.
  • King’s Day: activities for children on the Stadhuisplein.
  • King’s Funfair: on De Meent, for several days around King’s Day. In 2025 from Friday 25 to Tuesday 29 April.

Flea market rules

The rules for 2027 have not been published yet. These were the rules of the municipality of Lelystad in 2025; they may differ in 2027.

  • No reserving spots in advance or marking them with tape.
  • Do not sit in front of shop entrances, and keep emergency exits and doorways clear.
  • No trailers, stalls or party tents on your spot.
  • Selling food and drink is not allowed.
  • No selling along the Ziekenhuisweg, Middenweg and Neringweg. The Muntstraat and the Zilverparkkade are allowed.
  • Keep the emergency route clear: at least 3.5 metres, sit only directly against the building.
  • Leave your spot clean. Usable items could be handed in at De Groene Sluis on the Agorahof.

Parking and road closures

Parking and closures for 2027 have not been announced yet. This is how it was in Lelystad in 2025:

  • 2025: The city centre was closed to cars, scooters and other motor vehicles from 12:00 on the day before King’s Day until 18:00 on King’s Day.
  • 2025: On King’s Day, parking in the city centre and at the Lelycentre was free.
  • 2025: The Zilverparkkade, Muntstraat and De Waag were closed to cyclists.
  • 2025: Around the funfair, De Meent was closed every evening from 17:00 to 22:00.

With the royal visit, closures in 2027 will probably be larger. So come by train or bike if you can. See Map and travel.
