Share your ideas

Still to be announced
- The royal family’s programme.
- The route through the city and where you can watch.
- Road closures, parking and extra public transport.
- The rest of the festivities in Lelystad, such as the flea market and music.
How does the day usually go?
Every year the visit is a little different, but the pattern is often the same. During the morning the royal family arrives. The family then walks a route through the city. Along the way, residents, clubs and schools show what their city is proud of: music, dance, sport, traditional crafts and local specialities. The visit ends in the early afternoon. Dutch public broadcaster NOS shows the visit live for several hours.
In the rest of the city it is simply King’s Day, with a flea market, music and parties. Every year Lelystad has a large flea market, music events and the King’s Fair (Koningskermis) on De Meent. Whether these will take place in the same form in 2027 is not yet known.
